TOKYO

An earthquake with a preliminary ‌magnitude of ⁠6.3 ⁠hit ⁠northern ‌Japan ⁠on Friday, the ⁠Japan Meteorological Agency said.

The ⁠epicenter ⁠of the earthquake, which hit at 8:22 p.m., ‌was off the ‌coast of Miyagi prefecture at a depth of ​50 kilometers, ‌the agency said, adding that ‌no tsunami ⁠warning ⁠had been ​issued.
