Since the discovery of locally transmitted COVID-19 cases on Saturday (August 07, 2021), the Ministry of Health (MoH) has identified three (3) active COVID-19 clusters in the community spread: the StarLodge Cluster, the Al-Falaah Cluster and the TOTAL Cluster.
Brunei Darussalam on Sunday recorded new COVID-19 cases in the country, of which 15 are local transmissions, bringing the tally of confirmed cases to 364.
Out of the 15 cases, five (5) are from the Al-Falah cluster and seven (7) from the TOTAL Cluster.
There are also three (3) new local COVID-19 cases from unknown sources. Meanwhile, the StarLodge cluster did not register any new cases.
Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Mohd Isham Jaafar revealed the details of the latest COVID-19 cases durig a pres conference on Sunday, August 08, 2021.
" From the Al-Falah Cluster, five (5) of the new cases are Case 348 and Case 351 to 354, who are close contacts of Case 346, " he said.
" Case 348 is a 31-year-old asymptomatic man. Case 351 is eight-years-old and developed mild symptoms on August 6, 2021.
" Case 352 is a six-year-old asymptomatic child. Case 353 is a 38-year-old man who developed mild symptoms on August 07, 2021, while Case 354 is eight (8) years old and developed mild symptoms on August 07, 2021.
" Meanwhile, the two (2) import cases are Cases 349 and 350, who arrived from Manila on August 04, 2021 on board Royal Brunei Airlines flight B1684.
" Case 349 is a 34-year-old man, while Case 350 is a 43-year-old man. Both cases are asymptomatic."
"Seven (7) of the cases reported are from the TOTAL Cluster, where Case 355 to 361 are close contacts of Case 345.
" Case 355 is a 50-year-old man who is a colleague of Case 345. He developed mild symptoms on August 06, 2021.
" Case 356 is a 45-year-old asymptomatic man who is a work colleague of Case 345; Case 357 is a 55-year-old asymptomatic woman who is the sister of Case 345; Case 358 is a 46-year-old asymptomatic woman who is the wife of Case 345; Case 359 is a 72-year-old man who is a work colleague of Case 345. He developed mild symptoms on August 06, 2021.
" Case 360 is a 64-year-old asymptomatic man who is a colleague of Case 345, and Case 361 is a 56-year-old man who is a colleague of Case 345.
He developed mild symptoms on August 06, 2021.
" Case 362, 363 and 364 are from unknown sources of infection, while Case 362 is a 13-year-old child who developed mild symptoms on August 05,2021. He has no travel history abroad.
" Case 363 is a 16-year-old who developed mild symptoms on August 02, 2021. This case has no travel history abroad. Case 364 is a 43-year-old woman who developed mild symptoms on August 03, 2021. This case has no travel history abroad.
" Contact tracing for all these new cases is ongoing. All identified close contacts are required to undergo mandatory quarantine and RT-PCR SARS-CoV-2 test.
" With these latest cases, Brunei Darussalam has detected 15 local cases today. Investigation is ongoing to identify the sources of infection for three (3) of the cases.
" As such, Brunei Darussalam has recorded three (3) active clusters."
The minister added that 67 active cases are undergoing treatment at the National Isolation Centre (NIC).
In the past 24 hours, 850 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, bringing the total number of laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 156,695.
