BODY OF NEWBORN BABY FOUND IN INTERNET CAFE; 20-YEAR-OLD MOTHER ARRESTED - NAGOYA JAPAN

A 20-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly abandoning the body of a newborn baby in a private room at an internet cafe in Nagoya.

According to police, at around 7 a.m. on Sunday, an employee at the Kaikatsu CLUB Nagoya Nishiki internet cafe in Naka Ward, called 110 and said there was a foul odor coming from a private room, NTV reported.

Police searched the room and found the body of a baby, whose gender was unknown, wrapped in a towel.

Police arrested Miyu Imai, a 20-year-old woman from Kani City, Gifu Prefecture, on suspicion of abandoning a corpse.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the infant’s cause of of death, police said.
