HIROSHIMA

A man in his 70s and his wife in her 60s were found dead in their home in Sera town, Hiroshima Prefecture, on Monday in what police believe was a murder-suicide.

According to police, a relative, unable to contact the couple, visited the home and discovered the bodies at around 12:20 a.m., and called 110, Sankei Shimbun reported.

Police said the woman, Harumi Mukaitani, had a stab wound to her neck and was declared dead at the scene. A knife was near her body. Her husband was found in a detached building on the property, after having apparently hanged himself.

Police said there were no signs of forced entry by a third party.
