PUTRAJAYA :The Kampung Domis, Kelantan involving an education centre in this state, saw a surge of COVID-19 infections with 162 new cases.
The spike under this cluster is among the contributing factors of Kelantan recording the highest increase of all states on Thursday (April 22, 2021) -registering 662 new cases.
Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said about 368 cases in Kelantan were from clusters, while 199 were those detected from contact tracing.
" This amounts to 85.6% of their cases on Thursday," he said in his daily COVID-19 updates.
The Kampung Domis cluster was first identified as a new cluster on April 15, 2021.
To date, there are 348 confirmed cases under the cluster and seven patients under the cluster have been discharged so far.
On Thursday, the Health Ministry also classified 13 new clusters.
Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said of the new clusters, five (5) were workplace related, four (4) were community outbreaks, three (3) were linked to the education sector, while one (1) was due to a religious event.
A shool outbreak in Banting, Selangor, saw the discovery of 58 positive cases among its students.
Named Jalan Shah Banting cluster, Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 913 individuals had to undergo a targeted screening exercise since April 16, 2021.
There are now 352 active clusters nationwide.
