According to Brunei's Ministry of Health, all new cases are local infections. While the source of infection of 24 new cases is still under investigation, 35 cases are related to eight (8) active clusters already identified and four other cases are related to two (2) new clusters confirmed on Sunday.
The rest one (1) new case (Case 755) is related to a previous case (Case 573) reported on August 13, 2021 which is not yet defined as a new cluster.
All new cases in the active clusters are individuals who are currently being quarantined and were found to be in contact with several confirmed cases.
The health ministry said that contact tracing for all new cases is still actively running, wit a total of 11,237 people identified as close contacts of the recently confirmed cases, an increase of 2,411 individuals from the previous day.
There are currently 451 active cases being treated and monitored at the National Isolation Centre, with two (2) of them in critical condition requiring respiratory assistance and five (5) other patients under close monitoring.
Before the detection of the local cases on August 07, 2021 Brunei had kept a record of 457 days without community infections.
Brunei also reported three (3) recoveries on Monday. There have been a total of 333 recorded patients and three (3) deaths reported from COVID-19 so far in the country.
