GE15 : DELAYS ADD DRAMA ?
There was no shortage of dramatic moments at some polling and tallying centres in the Klang Valley during the 15th General Election (GE15), with two (2) incidents delaying different parts of the process.
In the Segambut constituency, a missing form caused a delayed at SK Bukit Damansara tallying centre in Kuala Lumpur.
It was learnt that the polling station head at SMK Kiaramas channel had forgotten to submit a Form 14, which is the official counting statement in a particular station, to the returning officer.
As such, the police had to escort the polling centre head back to the tallying centre to complete his form submission.
Federal Territories Elections Office director Md Fuad Mohd Sherif was spotted at the tallying centre around 3am and the official result was announced at 3.35 am.
Hannah Yeah defended her seat with a majority of 59, 684 votes, receiving 68, 438 or 80% of the total votes.
The other candidates were Perikatan Nasional candidate V. Prabagaran from Gerakan, who garnered 8, 754 votes while Barisan Nasional candidate Daniel Ling Sia Chin from MCA garnered 8, 304 votes.
In Gombak, ballot counting at a voting centre was temporarily disrupted because of a power outage that lasted two (2) minutes.
The incident at Kolej Vokasional Gombak was believed to be triggered by lightning, reported Sinar Harian.
Tenaga Nasional Bhd, in response, said the power failure was caused by internal damage on the part of the user.
A power outrage for almost an hour at a polling station in Kepong also affected the voting process there.
However, the police said the incident at SJK (C) Kepong was ude to a wiring issue and it had been successfully repaired.
