PETALING JAYA, SELANGOR: Perikatan Nasional has submitted statutory declarations (SDs) by Members of Parliament supporting Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the 10th Prime Minister.

 

Coalition secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said more than 112 SDs were sent to Istana Negara in line with Article 43 of the Federal Constitution informing the King that Muhyiddin had secured the needed majority support.

 

Istana Negara had initially set a 1400 pm deadline on Monday (November 21, 2022) for leaders of political parties and coalitions that won the most parliamentary seats in the 15th General Election to inform the King about a new alliance to form a government and submit the name of their prime minister candidate.

 

This was done in line with Articles 40(2) (a) and 43(2)(a) of the Federal Constitution with the King's decision being final.

 

However, the King decided to extend the deadline till 1400 pm Tuesday (November 22, 2022) following a request by Barisan Nasional for more time.

 

This came after Barisan and Pakatan Harapan leaders were in discussions at Seri Pacific Hotel earlier on Monday (November 21, 2022) to hammer out an alliance to form the governmetn.

 

On Saturday (November 19, 2022), Pakatan Harapan emerged as the biggest coalition in Parliament with 82 seats, including Muda, but was still short of the 112 needed for a simple majority.

 

The second biggest coalition is Perikatan Nasional with 73 seats while Barisan Nasional has 30, Gabungan Parti Sarawak won 22 and Gabunga Sabha managed to get six (6) seats.

 

Other parties and Independents won seven (7) seats.

PETALING JAYA, SELANGOR: Calon Pakatan Harapan, Hannah Yeoh mendakwa tiada keputusan keluar dari pusat kiraan undi di Segambut berlaku.

Hannah Yeoh mendakwa, ini berpunca selepas ketua tempat mengundi enggan menandatangani Borang 14 untuk ejen pengundian dan juga ejen kiraan (PACA) parti itu.

" Ketua tempat mengundi tidak mahu menandatangani Borang 14 untuk PACA kami," menerusi media sosial " Twitter ".

Seorang pengikutnya juga mendakwa situasi serupa berlaku di Setiawangsa apabila pegawai enggan menandatangani borang berkenaan.

Yeoh berdepan saingan tiga (3) penjuru di kerusi Parlimen Segambut apabila berdepan V Prabagaran daripada Perikatan Nasional (PN) dan Daniel Ling dari Barisan Nasional.

Pada pilihan raya lalu, Yeoh memenangi kerusi itu selepas mendapat lebih 53,000 undi.

TIOMAN ELECTION POSTPONED TO DECEMBER 07, 2022 : GE15

The Election Commission (EC) announced on November 19, 2022 (Saturday) that the Tioman election has been postponed to December 07, 2022 (Wednesday). Tioman is a state seat under the Rompin parliamentary constituency in Pahang.

The election will not be held together will today's 15th General Election (GE15) polling day due to the death of Perikatan Nasional's (PN) candidate for the seat, Md Yunus Ramli.

In a statement, EC chairman Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Salleh said nomination will be on November 24, 2022 (Thursday) and early voting is set for December 04, 2022 (Saturday).

Campaign period is 13 days from after nomination until 11.59pm December 06, 2022.

Applications for postal votes can be made online from today until November 22, 2022.

As for voted details, it will be made available from November 23, 2022.

The other candidates for N.42 Tioman are Sulaiman Bakar (Independent), Osman Bakar (GTA-Pejuang), Mohd Fadzli Mohd Ramly (PH-Amanah), and Mohd Johari Husin (BN-UMNO).

Candidates who have already been nominated will only need to be present for the purpose of the ballot paper draw, while new candidates will need to go through the usual full nomination process.

Md Yunus, from PAS, had previously contested the same seat in GE14 and served as Sugnai Puteri PAS branch chief.

This is the second candidate to die during this election, the first being PH's candidate in Padang Serai M. Karupaiya, who passed away on November 16, 2022 heart complications while being treated at Kulim Hospital.

PETALING JAYA, SELANGOR: Voting for the Baram, Miri seat in Sarawak has been suspended due to bad weather.

The suspension of voting has affected 11 centres, said the Election Commission (EC) in a statement.

" Officials are not able to reach the centres by air, land or water," said EC chairman Abdul Ghani Salleh.

" New polling dates with be notified at a later date when it is safe for officials and voters to get to the polling station," he added.

Earlier on November 19, 2022, (Saturday), Bernama reported that bad weather prevented election officials from getting to 24 of the 194 polling centres in Baram, Miri.

The suspended voting in Baram means that the EC will only announce results 220 parliamentary seats after that days polls.

The EC had set December 07, 2022 for polling for the Padang Serai parliamentary seat in Kedah following the death of Pakatan Harapan's candidate for the seat, M Karupaiya, on Wednesday.

PETALING JAYA SELANGOR, NOVEMBER 19, 2022:Three (3) people died while queueing up to cast their votes on November 19, 2022, said Inspector-General of Police Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani.

At a press conference in Gombak, Acryl Sani also announced that in another incident, a man believed to be mentally unsound created a scene by grabbing an ink bottle from the officer on duty and toppling the ballot box at a voting centre in Ulu Yam, Hulu Selangor.

" Checks showed that the individual has a record of being treated for a mental disorder," he was quoted as saying in Berita Harian.

As for the deaths, all three involved voters who were lining up to cast their votes.

" There was one case in Kota Baru Kelantan, and two (2) in Johor Baharu, " he said.

Acryl Sani said he spent time also at four (4) voting centres, namely SK Desa Amanpuri (Damansara), SK Intan Baiduri, (Kepong), SK Setapak Indah (Batu)and SK Sungai Kertas (Gombak).

He said that despite finding them crowded in the morning, the situation was under control.

" This reflects Malaysian's maturity in fulfilling their responsibilities as citizens in a calm and peaceful manner," he said.

Touching on the preparedness of police ahead of polling results tonight, he advised all parties to graciously accept any result.

" We are ready for any possible situation," he said.
