Which Country Without Coronavirus ?

Are You Believe It Or Not ???

Believe it or not, today...there are countries without COVID -19 cases, let's have a look and see which ones they are !

(We update : March 01, 2021)

WHICH COUNTRIES WITHOUT CORONAVIRUS ?

The spread of the coronavirus took us all by surprise, and the speed at which it has spread all over the world is alarming. So much so, that it is almost hard to believe that some countries still have no reported cases of the Coronavirus / COVID - 19.

Well, there are in fact countries without coronavirus !

The UN officially recognises 193 countries.

As of March 01, 2021, only seventh (7) countries have not confirmed any cases of COVID -19. Others than that with cases of COVID -19. Many of these countries without COVID -19 cases are from Pacific Island countries in Oceania.

HERE THE LIST OF COUNTRIES WITHOUT CORONAVIRUS CASES

SEVENTH (7) COUNTRIES WITHOUT CORONAVIRUS ARE...

1. North Korea KP

2. Turkmenistan TM

3. Kiribati KI

4. Palau PW

5. Tonga TO

6. Tuvalu TV

7. Nauru NR

As of March 01, 2021, these countries all have no reported cases of the COVID -19 novel CORONAVIRUS.

So how did these countries manage to be amongst the very few to have no cases of a virus that has affected more than a million people worldwide ?

A LOOK AT THE COUNTRIES WITHOUT CORONAVIRUS

1 # NORTH KOREA, ASIA (POPULATION : 25,778,816)

UPDATE : North Korea reported its first SUSPECTED case of COVID -19 on July 26, 2020. The southern area of Kaesong has gone under full alert. It was then confirmed this was NOT a coronavirus case.

North Korea was the first country to close its borders.

As a neighbour of China, the country closed its borders on January 21st and hasn't re-opened since. It then implemented strict measures for those coming into the country (foreigners and nationals) including month or two-month quarantine.

While the North Korean authorities report zero cases one might wonder how China's nearest neighbour could truly be free of the virus. We suggest you do a good bit or research for a more balance opinion!

2 # TONGA, OCEANIA (POPULATION : 105, 695)

Tonga has been strict with travel rules since February.

Since Fiji's first reported case of coronavirus, Tonga closed its borders to foreigners and only allowed foreigners to leave who were travelling back on flights to their own countries. As of March 29th, 2020, Tonga has been in lockdown. And locked - down our tour leader Zoe with it!

Tonga started repatriation flights for Tongans in mid - July to get Tongans back from Fiji. The flight was limited to less than 60 people, all of whom are under strict quarantine at the same hotel in town. This hotel is strongly guarded by police and the road it's on has been closed.

3 # TURKMENISTAN, ASIA ( POPULATION :6,031,200 )

Turkmenistan is a country in Central Asia bordered by Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Iran and Afghanistan - all countries with reports of coronavirus infections. Most of the land borders were closed more than a month ago, and in early February, 2021 Turkmenistan cancelled many flights and all flights to and from China.

There are rumours that the official reports may not quite match the official statement, and it was also brought to the media attention that Turkmenistan had allegedly "banned" the word Coronavirus, although this wasn't exactly true.

4 # KIRIBATI, OCEANIA (POPULATION : 119, 451)

There are no cases in Kiribati, but a state of public emergency has been declared. From March 30th, 2020, schools closed for 2 weeks.

5 # NAURU, OCEANIA (POPULATION : 10, 823)

Nauru, a country so small than you can walk around it in one day, has also managed to stay coronavirus - free. Along with Tuvalu, it holds the record for being one of the least visited countries in the world.

6 # TUVALU, OCEANIA (POPULATION : 11, 793)

Often known as one of, if not the, least visited country in the world, Tuvalu sees fewer than 200 tourists per year. This has probably been a massive help in preventing an outbreak in this country wit a very small population.

7 # PALAU, OCEANIA (POPULATION : 18, 094)

There was previously one person under investigation for having coronavirus after having travelled from Guam, however, he tested negative. There is currently no coronavirus cases in Palau.

WHAT'S ACTUALLY LIFE LIKE INSIDE A COUNTRY WITHOUT CORONAVIRUS ?

Life stuck in paradise, and a paradise without COVID -19 might sound like the dream to a lot of people now.

And in a lot of ways, it is. Here, we can freely walk around, go to restaurants, go to bars and clubs we don't wear masks, and we're not constantly reminded to wash our hands ( although we do, because you should anyways! ).

But being stuck in Tonga has its downsides. Being stuck anywhere has its downsides. But Tonga is especially isolating. Never heard of Tonga ? Don't worry - unless you're a rugby fan, you probably won't have either. It's a small island nation about 2 hours flight away from Fiji, located in the South Pacific ocean. In other words, really far from everything.

And just because the virus is not here in physical presence, it's certainly entered our lives here in one way or another.

Which Country Rejected Coronavirus Vaccines ?

A number of countries around the world have fudged official coronavirus statistics, shared artificially sunny outlooks about the pandemic, or cracked down on reports that counter the official narrative.

Zoom In : But no country has taken coronavirus denial to the extent of Tanzania - which is not only denying that it has a single case, but it's also rejecting Coronavirus Vaccines.

Even North Korea, which has reported zero cases, is set to receive vaccines from the COVAX initiative. So too Turkmenistan, which is officially COVID - free but will soon launch its vaccination campaign with Russia's Sputnik V.

President John Magufuli says Tanzania doesn't need vaccines, and that they don't work anyway: " If the white man was able to come up with vaccinations, he should have found a vaccination for AIDS, cancer and alto TB by now."

His government has instead recommended herbal remedies, steam treatments, and a ginger and onion smoothie to ward off infection.

Reality Check : Magufuli's COVID - 19 populism is dangerous for multiple reasons.

a> Tanzanians are dying. In crowded hospitals, patients on oxygen succumb to what will be officially recorded as "acute pheumonia," The Continent reports.

b> The virus crosses borders. The government's decision to refuse vaccines and make any test and trace system all but impossible could be dangerous for Tanzania's neighbors, and potentially the world.

The Other Side : Doctors and journalists have tried to spread the word about the risks, mostly anonymously due to fear of retribution, and the Catholic Church recently raised the alarm.

WHY COVID -19 VACCINATION SHOULDN'T MANDATORY ?

My Advised ...

Vaccines, especially these novel formulations for COVID -19, are far from being harmless, and people who may be at risk for potentially serious reactions should not be given the vaccine.

But in the seeming over-enthusiasm to mass-vaccinate, the obvious safety precautions are being overlooked.

Sometimes, one cannot help but ask, " Is the objective really to protect the global population from COVID -19, or is it simply to mass-vaccinate at all costs, for reasons that are still unclear to many?"

Recently, at least two persons developed life-threating anaphylactic reaction to the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID -19 vaccine, as it was rolled out in Britain.

Anaphylaxis is a severe, potentially life-threatening reaction to food and medicines, especially to vaccines. Fortunately, the two who had the reaction were promptly treated and did not die.

The scenario may have been a lot different if it happened in a mass vaccination campaign in a third-world country, outside of a hospital facility. Patients with anaphylactic reactions can die within a few minutes if not properly treated.

Britain's Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has now upgraded precautions to the vaccine because of these two reports of anaphylaxis.

OVER - ENTHUSIASM

A statement from MHRA head June Raine said: " Any person with a history of anaphylaxis to a vaccine, medicine or food should not receive the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine."

It added that having the vaccine is still recommended. " Most people will not get anaphylaxis and the benefits in protecting people against COVID -19 outweigh the risks...You can be completely confident that this vaccine has met the MHRA's robust standards of safety, quality and effectiveness."

Actually, this concern of a possible anaphylactic reaction was apparently already considered in the clinic trials of the Pfizer vaccine. That may have been the reason those with history of severe allergic reactions were excluded from the clinical trials.

The likely culprit for this is the polyethylene glycol, or PEG, in Prizer's vaccine. PEG helps stabilize the product and is not a component in other types of vaccines.

With a new compound, especially a vaccine, one would intuitively think that expert regulators, would take the routine precaution of excluding those with a history of severe reaction, but it became only a post-reaction precaution after two near-fatal mishaps in the early part of their roll-out.

This highlights the blinding effects of over-enthusiasm. We've had a similar bad experience with Dengvaxia. I hope we don't have to relearn lessons with any of these COVID -19 vaccines.

Some experts argue that the risk is much higher if we don't have the vaccine. I don't quite agree. In the Philippines, for example, the risk of getting infected with COVID in the next 12 months is likely less than 0.5 percent, or five in 1,000. The risk of dying from COVID -19 is 0.01 percent or one in 10,000.

In the vaccine trials, the rate of reported adverse drug reactions is around 0.6 percent or six in 1,000. And usually, those with significant medical conditions were excluded in the trials. It's not really a real-world or real-life scenario. So, we may expect more reactions or side effects in a real-world setting.

The two cases of anaphylactic reaction in Britain highlights this gap in the COVID -19 vaccine clinical trials. Because of the accelerated rate at which the trails were conducted, there remain crucial unanswered questions. We'll only know the answers with the roll-out experiences in other countries.

NO DISCRIMINATION

The governments of the world should make COVID -19 vaccination voluntary and not mandatory. Thee should be no discrimination against those who choose not to be vaccinated, like not being allowed to travel, or not being employed. This is not really a just and fair exercise of the state's police power.

Only those who are willing should get the vaccine shots, after being informed of the possible side effects. Yes, there should be informed consent.

There has to be a strict protocol before it's administered. Identify and exclude patients at risk, even if they want to be vaccinated.

For me, COVID -19 antibody testing must be part of the protocol. It must be done first as a screening test to determine those who can really benefit from the vaccine. If one has antibodies already for COVID -19 either due to a previous infection or exposure, then one may not need the vaccine. He/she should just have his/her antibody titers rechecked after several months to see if they have gone down already.

Until today, I maintain my stand that, weighing the risks of getting vaccinated or not for the next 12 months, we're still better off with a wait-and-see attitude.

Can We Share COVID - 19 Vaccine ?

People who are most at risk after from the complications of COVID -19 are being offered the COVID -19 vaccination first.

For example in United Kingdom, there are two (2) types of COVID -19 vaccine to be used once they are approved. They both require two (2) doses to provide the best protection into the body. Both have been shown to be safe and effective in clinical trials.

An independent group of experts has recommended that the NHS offers these vaccines to those at highest risk of catching the infection and suffering serious complications if they do catch the infection. This includes older adults in care homes and frontline health and social care workers. When more vaccine becomes available, the vaccines will be offered to other people at risk as soon as possible.

The vaccine you are being offered is amongst the first to be approved as safe and effective by the independent Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

You have just received your first dose and now should plan to attend your next appointment.

WHAT ARE SIDE EFFECTS ?

Like all medicines, vaccines can cause side effects. Most of these are mild and short-term, and not everyone gets them. Even if you do have symptoms after the first dose, you still need to have the second of dose.

Although you may get some protection from the first dose, having the second dose will give you the best protection against the virus.

Very common side effects include:

a. Having a painful, heavy feeling and tenderness in the arm where you had your injection. This tends to be worst around 1 to 2 days after the vaccine.

b. Feeling Tired.

c. Headache.

d. General aches, or mild flu like symptoms.

Although feeling feverish is not uncommon for 2 to 3 days, a high temperature is unusual and may indicate you have COVID -19 or another infection. An uncommon side effect is swelling of the glands. You can rest and take the normal dose of paracetamol (follow the advice in the packaging) to help make you feel better.

These symptoms normally last less than a week. If your symptoms seem to get worse or if you are concerned, call NHS 111. If you do seek advice from a doctor or nurse, make sure you tell them about your vaccination (show them the vaccination card) so that they can assess you properly.

You can also report suspected side effects of vaccines and medicines.

CAN YOU CATCH COVID -19 FROM THE VACCINE ?

You cannot catch COVID -19 from the vaccine but it is possible to have caught COVID -19 and not realise you have the symptoms until after your vaccination appointment.

The most important symptoms of COVID -19 are recent onset of any of the following:

a. A new continuous cough

b. A high temperature

c. A loss of, or change in, your normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia).

Although a mild fever can occur within a day or two of vaccination, if you have any other COVID -19 symptoms or your fever lasts longer, stay at home and arrange to have a test.

CAN YOU GO BACK TO NORMAL ACTIVITIES AFTER HAVING COVID -19 VACCINE ?

You should be able to resume activities that are normal for you as long as you feel well. If your arm is particularly sore, you may find heavy lifting difficult. If you feel unwell or very tired you should rest and avoid operating machinery or driving.

WHAT TO DO NEXT AFTER VACCINATION ?

Plan to attend your second appointment. You should have a record card and your next appointment should be between 3 and 12 weeks later. It is important to have both doses of the same vaccine to give you the best protection.

Keep your record card safe and make sure you keep your next appointment to get your second dose.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU ARE NOT WELL FOR YOUR NEXT APPOINTMENT ?

If you are unwell, it is better to wait until you have recovered to have your vaccine, but you should try to have it as soon as possible. You should not attend a vaccine appointment if you are self-isolating, waiting for a COVID -19 test or unsure if you are fit and well.

WILL THE VACCINE PROTECT YOU ?

The COVID -19 vaccine that you have had has been shown to reduce the chance of you suffering from COVID -19 disease. Each vaccine has been tested in more than 20,000 people in several different countries and shown to be safe.

It may take a week or two (2) for your body to build up some protection from the first dose of vaccine. Like all medicines, no vaccine is completely effective, so you should continue to take recommended precautions to avoid infection. Some people may still get COVID -19 despite having a vaccination, but this should be less severe.

CAN WE SHARE COVID -19 VACCINE TO ANYONE ?

The vaccine cannot give you COVID -19 infection, and a full course will reduce your chance of becoming seriously ill. We do not yet know whether it will stop you from catching and passing on the virus, but we do expect it to reduce this risk. So, it is still important to follow the guidance in your local area to protect those around you.

To protect yourself and your family, friends and colleagues you are still need to:

a. Practice Social Distancing

b. Wear a Face Mask

c. Wash Your Hands Carefully and Frequently

d. Follow The Current Guidance.

HOW COVID - 19 IS SPREAD ?

COVID -19 is spread through droplets breathed out from the nose or mouth, particularly when speaking or coughing. It can also be picked up by touching your eyes, nose and mouth after contact with contaminated objects and also surfaces.
